THE PROJECT

In 2013 Princess Cruise Lines partnered with UIEvolution to bring the next generation of in-room entertainment and digital signage.

Not willing to take a standard, traditional approach, Princess Cruise Lines wanted to bring an experience unrivaled in Cruise and Hospitality with a clear platform to build to their future vision of technology.

The result was an HTML5-based TV solution designed to improve the passenger experience. The smart, interactive TVs can be extended to support a host of innovative features for passenger and crew TVs. These include screen shifting live TV; transferring movies and music to the passenger’s smartphone or tablet; onboard digital signage and mapping; dining menus; and the ability to book onboard activities from in-cabin TVs, smartphones or personal mobile devices.

As the primary designer on the project, I led the design under the guidance of my creative leadership team. In addition, I created the overall user flow, visual style guide, and user interface design.

The project launched in June 2013.

WAYFINDING AND APPLICATIONS

I also created the UI for interactive display applications that are used as part of the TV system as well as across the ship on digital signage.
